Welcome to the JKHanna School of Uganda, a ministry committed to providing the care and education of the street children of Iganga, Uganda. Our mission is to address the physical, emotional, intellectual, and spiritual needs of these children. We believe that only by addressing all four aspects of these children, can they rise out of poverty and despair. We strongly believe that education is the key to a hopeful future for these children.
ABOUT US
The JK Hanna School was founded by Pastor Joseph Balirane, a Ugandan pastor and social worker who himself was an orphan. He started a soup kitchen to feed for these homeless kids for years, but he never saw improvement of the overall trajectory of these young lives.
He felt convicted that education was necessary in addition to foster care to change their futures from one of lawlessness and despair to one of productivity and hope.
Although public education is theoretically available to these children, the reality is that living on the streets is too taxing in every way for these kids to ever be able to stay in public school.
Through this school, they receive a free, quality, education and two meals per day. This takes off the financial pressure from the foster families who are already on the edge financially themselves.
